Come to Haiti and visit the St. Joseph Family
Accommodations at our WELCOME CENTERS
The St. Joseph Family welcomes guests to experience our programs and enjoy the beauty of Haiti. We have Welcome Centers as part of our mission to host guests on-site and to allow you to get to know the St. Joseph Family. Our Welcome Centers offer a beautiful oasis in the midst of the busyness and unfamiliarity of Haiti. They include several meeting areas and quiet places to gather your thoughts and reflect on your experiences. From the rooftops of the Welcome Centers you will have panoramic views of the surrounding neighborhoods and see the beauty of Haiti. The SJ Welcome Center in the Port-au-Prince/Petionville area is a part of the SJ Community Outreach Center. It is a haven for visitors, offering clean and comfortable rooms with beautiful rooftop views. It can also serve as a place for visiting groups to host conferences, meetings and medical clinics. The Wings Welcome Center is adjacent to Wings of Hope and shares a building with Lekòl Sen Trinite in Jacmel. The close proximity to two of our programs allows visitors to experience the daily life at Wings of Hope and Lekòl Sen Trinite, and to be involved with our programs throughout the day. Rooms at the Wings Welcome Center are comfortable, with views of the ocean and Jacmel from the roof. Accommodations at both the SJ Welcome Center and the Wings Welcome Center include breakfast and an evening meal, prepared in Haitian/American style by our amazing cooks. Special arrangements are available for vegetarians and those guests with dietary allergies. Guests at the Wings Welcome Center can add a sack lunch prepared by the residents as a part of their Wings Cafe skills training project, for an additional fee. Rooms at both Welcome Centers are dormitory-style. Shared spaces offer groups a community experience that is part of the Haitian culture. Both Welcome Centers have running water and wifi. Drinking water is provided in all guest rooms. Electricity is available when possible. The staff at the SJ and Wings Welcome Centers can help facilitate ground transportation, for an additional cost, and provide guidance about things to do and see in Haiti. The COME, SEE, BE experience While some groups and individuals chose to plan their own trips and only need accommodations and help with ground transportation by the staff of our Welcome Centers, other groups seek a more inclusive experience and help with trip planning. For this group we offer the COME, SEE, BE experience, as a a guided experience of accompaniment in Haiti. The Come, See, Be program gives visitors a chance to come and accompany the people of Haiti, and specifically the St. Joseph Family, in the reality of Haiti, while taking the stress out of the trip planning process. The experience will offer group participants new experiences as they learn about Haiti and join the lives of the St. Joseph Family members. Trip planning, especially internationally and to a developing nation, can be overwhelming. Through the Come, See, Be program, group leaders will have the assistance of SJF leadership in the trip planning process. A basic itinerary can be customized to fit the desires of each group. Accommodations will be on-site at the SJ and Wings Welcome Centers. Guides, drivers, speakers and activities will be arranged by the SJF, so that a group just needs to show up with open hearts and Come, See and Be all that Haiti and the SJF have to offer. The Come, See, Be experience, complete with trip planning, accommodations, meals, in-country transportation, and activities is available for a flat fee. All pre-trip expenses, including airfare and travel expenses; and personal expenses (extra food, souvenirs, etc.) are the responsibility of the group participants in addition to the Come, See, Be flat fee. If a group wants to do a manual labor service project while they are in Haiti, that is an additional charge to pay for materials. Additional activities outside the Come, See, Be offerings are available for an additional charge. For more information about the Welcome Centers or to make a reservation
